Wema Bank launches Hackaholics digital summit

Wema Bank has announced the establishment of the Hackaholics Digital Summit, which will bring together Africa’s digital innovators, disruptors, regulators, policymakers, investors, and customers.

The Punch reported that the summit will act as a hub for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and best practices in the tech sector in order to positively transform technology and innovation not only in Nigeria but also throughout the African continent, according to a statement released by the bank on Wednesday.

The Hackaholics Digital Summit, with the theme “Re-Imagine: Disrupting the Ecosystem for Scale,” will take place in Lagos in October.

The grand finale of Hackaholics 4.0 will follow the event’s opening of the Hackaholics Digital Summit. Outstanding teams will present their innovations and compete to be named the Hackaholics 4.0 champions.

Prizes totaling N10 million will be awarded to the winning team, N7 million to the first runner-up, and N5 million to the second runner-up. A unique N3 million grant is also set aside just for a team with female leadership. A N15 million contribution will also be given to the university’s STEM endowment.

The Digital Summit will include master courses that will provide attendees the chance to see how Africa’s technological future is emerging while learning priceless information from renowned experts.

The Future of Financial Services, Venture Capital and Funding Viable Innovation for Scale, and Strategic Technology for Impact & Societal Change: Transforming Today & Tomorrow’s World are a few of the subjects covered in the master lectures.

The goal of Wema Bank’s Hackaholics project, which targets young people and companies, is to give innovators and entrepreneurs with game-changing, tech-driven ideas a platform to develop their ideas and their talents.

Launched in April 2023, the fourth iteration of Hackaholics involved multi-month travel to the best colleges in Nigeria to find and support gifted students with innovative ideas. These children had the chance to work together, develop their abilities, and use technology to bring their original ideas to life.
