Wema Bank Plc has appointed Engr. Wilson Chiedu Agu as an Independent Non-Executive Director to its board.
The appointment, announced on the Nigerian Exchange and approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, became effective on 3 March 2026.
Wema Bank described Engr. Agu as a serial entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience spanning consultancy, information technology, cybersecurity, and business development.
The board welcomed Engr. Agu, highlighting that his expertise in engineering, technology, and project development is expected to enhance the bank’s strategic planning and decision-making.
Engr. Agu holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, earned in 1990, and began his professional career in engineering and project management.
From 1993 to 2007, Engr. Agu served as Partner and Resident Engineer at Project Development Consortium, where he oversaw projects including the structural design of Orient Bank and the National Maritime Resource Centre.
In 2000, he founded I-Sixty Nigeria Limited, which has executed notable projects such as the NIMASA Maritime Museum, the Nigerian Navy Dockyard Museum, and renovations across eleven airports nationwide.
He was a member of the Governing Board of NITDA from 2013 to 2015, chairing the Committee on Standards, Guidelines, and Regulations, and contributing to the implementation of the National IT Policy and the COBIT 5 framework.
Currently, Engr. Agu leads Eagle Industrial and Energy Limited, overseeing projects in industrial parks and free trade zones, including the Enugu Tech Market, with a focus on infrastructure development and operational planning.
In 2021, he was awarded a Professional Fellowship Doctorate by the Institute of Corporate and Public Administration of Nigeria and is a member of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria.
