The West African Examinations Council has announced the full implementation of its Digital Certificate Services System, known as WAEC DigiCert, across its five member countries: Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
The announcement came in a statement issued by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on behalf of the Registrar.
According to Ojijeogu, the digital certificate services platform is a mobile and web-based application designed to provide stakeholders with seamless access to digital versions of original certificates.
”The WAEC Digital Certificate Services System offers candidates the opportunity to access, request, confirm and securely share digital copies of their certificates with institutions worldwide,” he explained.
He added that users could also recover lost WAEC examination numbers through the system while enjoying guaranteed authenticity and significant cost benefits.
”The system is reliable and secure, and its authenticity is guaranteed while reducing administrative bottlenecks associated with manual certificate issuance and collection processes,” he said.
He also assured that the innovation would not disrupt the printing and issuance of physical certificates.
Ojijeogu urged the public to download the mobile application or visit the official website and social media platforms for further information.
