Vodacom Tanzania has announced a partnership with MultiChoice Tanzania’s DStv, allowing subscribers to access the digital television service through the M-Pesa app via the MyDStv App.

The mobile operator acknowledged that it wants to turn M-Pesa into a Super App and ecosystem that other apps can operate and integrate into, much like the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

BMA is aware that the operator has established a framework in which partners can create mini-applications that are both pertinent and meet customers’ daily needs, gaining access to one of Tanzania’s consumer bases in exchange.

Speaking on the partnership, M-Pesa Marketing Manager, Noel Mazoya said, “This partnership is revolutionary to both M-Pesa and DStv customers because it offers them the comfort of seamlessly taking control of their DStv services through the M-Pesa App, especially now that we are heading into the World Cup season.”

Also, the DStv Head of Customer Experience and Care, Davis Mihyo, added, “This collaboration with Vodacom M-Pesa opens doors to various benefits for our customers. Now DStv customers can easily take control of their DStv subscription through the M-Pesa App and upgrade their packages, fix errors, and even enjoy live content.”

According to the companies, the collaboration will let more than 400 000 users of the M-Pesa app watch premium DStv content and manage their viewing all through a single app.
