ValueJet has partnered with the Plateau State Government to launch direct flights between Lagos and Jos starting April 2, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement by the airline, according to The Punch.
The airline will initially operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with plans to expand to daily service based on demand.
According to statement, due to the absence of regular flight services to Jos, the Plateau State Government signed an MoU with ValueJet to sustain operations on the route.
This move aims to provide a safer alternative to road travel, reducing the risks for passengers commuting from Plateau State to Abuja and beyond.
At the MoU signing held at ValueJet’s head office in Lagos, Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, stated that the agreement was designed to establish a legally binding air transport partnership.
He emphasized that the pact was driven by the need to ensure reliable flight services, particularly due to security concerns on the roads.
“The governor, since he was sworn in, had driven to Abuja from Jos more than 25 times. This applies to all the commissioners. It is either you take a 35-minute flight, or you take a five-hour trip by road with hoodlums and insecurity on the roads,” he said.
Majekodunmi signed on behalf of ValueJet, while Plateau State Commissioner of Transportation, Jatau Gyang, representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang, signed for the state government.
