US unveils ChatGPT to all federal agencies for $1

ChatGPT mobile app hits $2bn in global consumer spending

The United States government on Wednesday announced that all federal agencies can now integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise into their operations for just $1 per agency.

The United States is embracing artificial intelligence across its federal agencies with the rollout of ChatGPT, a move advocates say will enhance productivity and fulfill President Donald Trump’s promise to keep the nation at the forefront of technological innovation, according to Fox News.

“The use of this tool has been deployed and tested with responsible policy makers, with responsible legal folks,” GSA Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner, Josh Gruenbaum, said.

“It’s not just auto-piloting and saying, ‘go machine’ and we just respond. … It’s automation, it’s ease of processes, but it’s also thinking about … the typical waste, fraud and abuse that we’re also focused on with this administration.”

The use of the technology by federal agencies will likely vary across departments, with employees gaining access to a new government user community and customized introductory training. They will also benefit from tailored learning platforms and guided instruction, delivered either directly or through partner-led sessions, to meet specific agency needs.

“One of the best ways to make sure AI works for everyone is to put it in the hands of the people serving our country,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said of the partnership in a Wednesday press release. “We’re proud to partner with the General Services Administration, delivering on President Trump’s AI Action Plan, to make ChatGPT available across the federal government, helping public servants deliver for the American people.”

In July, the Trump administration launched its AI Action Plan in response to a directive issued by President Trump in January, calling on the federal government to craft a comprehensive strategy for artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to “solidify America’s position as the global leader in AI and secure a brighter future for all Americans.”

The plan is structured around three core pillars: empowering American workers, defending free speech, and protecting U.S.-developed technologies.
