US Tech CEO suspended after 'cheating' with HR at Coldplay concert

A U.S. tech executive has been suspended after a viral video from a Coldplay concert stirred controversy and allegations of misconduct.

Andy Byron, CEO of data orchestration firm Astronomer, was placed on leave after a video showing a couple embracing during the band’s performance at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts went viral on TikTok and other platforms. The footage, captured Wednesday night, shows a man and woman swaying together before quickly ducking and hiding their faces when shown on the stadium’s big screen — prompting cheers and online speculation.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin added to the intrigue during the concert, joking, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”

Social media users were quick to identify the pair as Byron and Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer — though neither has publicly confirmed their involvement.

In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), Astronomer said Byron had been suspended pending an internal review. “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company said. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”

The company added that its board had launched a formal investigation and named co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy as interim CEO.

Byron became CEO in July 2023, while Cabot joined Astronomer in November 2024. As of Friday, Byron had not released a personal statement, despite fake posts circulating online.
