Unilever announced in the early hours of today that following an extensive, global search process, Hein Schumacher has been named as its next Chief Executive Officer.
AMbusiness has reported that Alan Jope, who announced his retirement in September, will be replaced by Hein.
Hein is a 51 year old successful businessman with a proven track record at several top companies in the consumer products sector. He presently serves as the CEO of the international dairy and nutrition company- Royal FrieslandCampina, a company worth over 11 billion Euros and operating in over 40 countries.
He joined Unilever’s board of directors as a non-executive director in October of last year and will take over as CEO of Unilever on July 1st, 2023, following a one-month handover period.
“I am thrilled to have been appointed to manage Unilever,” Hein declared. It is a company with a sizable global footprint, a potent brand portfolio, a gifted staff, and an admirable reputation as a sustainability leader.
“As we serve the billions of people who use Unilever’s products every day, I will be highly focused on leading the Unilever team to produce a step-up in the success of the business.” he said.
Hein holds a Masters degree in Political Science and International Relations from University of Amsterdam.
He is also married with 3 kids.
