Uber wins bid to dismiss UK black cab drivers’ lawsuit

Uber said on Monday that it had won a bid to dismiss two related lawsuits worth about £340m ($453m) brought by thousands of London black cab drivers and two former private hire companies.

The lawsuits, filed in 2024, centred on allegations concerning how the ride-hailing company obtained a private hire vehicle operating licence in London.

The claimants accused Uber of providing “misleading and inaccurate information” to Transport for London, the authority responsible for regulating transport services in the British capital.

Uber denied the allegations and argued that the lawsuits were filed outside the six-year statutory limitation period for bringing such claims.

The company maintained that the cases should be dismissed because the claimants had exceeded the legally permitted timeframe for initiating proceedings.
