The government of the United Arab Emirates has announced a ten-year Blue Residence Visa for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to environmental protection to promote the culture of sustainability and environmental protection.
This was disclosed by the Prime Minister of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Friday, according to BT.
He said, “The sustainability of our economy has become linked to the sustainability of our environment, and our national directions in this area are clear and consistent.”
He underlined the UAE’s commitment to protecting the environment, the readiness of the country to develop its international technology, and the development of its higher education system.
The launch of the Blue Visa complements the country’s long-term objectives of supporting environmental protection and sustainable activities as the United Arab Emirates begins its year of sustainability (2022-23).
Eligibility criteria
A ten-year visa programme for environmental advocates who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the protection of the environment is available under the Blue Residency Programme.
The Blue Residency will be awarded to individuals who have contributed significantly to several environmental issues, e.g. the protection of sea life, land-based ecosystems, air quality improvement, sustainability technologies, and the circular economy.
The Blue Visa programme is designed to strengthen sustainability efforts both in the country and worldwide, as part of the United Arab Emirates’ extensive commitment to conservation and sustainable development.
This initiative is part of the wider government’s effort to extend the sustainability year for 2023, in recognition of its firm commitment towards a greener future.
To apply for the UAE 10-year Blue Visa, individuals can submit their applications through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.
Applicants will also have access to opportunities for collaboration on environmental projects, financial support, resources, and recognition of their valuable contribution to the protection of the environment in addition to obtaining a permanent residence permit within the United Arab Emirates.
