Twitter’s iconic bird logo fetches nearly $35,000 at auction

The iconic Twitter bird logo, removed from the company’s former San Francisco headquarters after Elon Musk rebranded the platform as X, has sold at auction for nearly $35,000.

RR Auction, known for dealing in rare and collectible items, announced that the 560-pound (254 kg) sign, measuring 12 feet by 9 feet (3.7 meters by 2.7 meters), was sold for $34,375.

The buyer’s identity was not disclosed.

Musk had previously auctioned off various items from the former Twitter, including signs and memorabilia, as well as more everyday objects like kitchen equipment and office furniture.

Other notable tech history items that fetched significant sums in the auction included an Apple-1 computer with accessories, which sold for $375,000; an Apple Computer Co. check signed by Steve Jobs in 1976, which went for $112,054; and a first-generation 4GB iPhone, still sealed in its original packaging, that sold for $87,514.The world’s richest man closed his blockbuster purchase of the social media service, thrusting Twitter into a new era in October 2022.
