Kanye West’s Twitter account has now been unbanned after being suspended for almost eight months due to inflammatory messages.

The rapper’s account currently displays his most recent tweet dated December 1, a day before X, Twitter’s new name suspended the rapper’s account.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing X, that West, who legally changed his name to Ye, will not be able to monetize his account there and that ads won’t be displayed next to his posts.

Ye’s account was suspended in December, just two months after it had been restored, when one of his postings appeared to portray a swastika symbol inside a Star of David just hours after he glorified Hitler and made antisemitic comments in a conspiracy theorist Alex Jones interview.

The report cited a person familiar with the situation as saying that X restored Ye’s account after getting assurances that he wouldn’t use the site to promote abusive or hateful comments.

Former US President Donald Trump’s account was earlier restored by Musk following a poll in which 14.8 million Twitter users participated and in which 51.8% voted in favour of the reinstatement.
