Turkey’s antitrust regulator imposed a fine of 2.61 billion liras ($75 million) on Google, citing that the tech giant unfairly favoured its own supply-side platform in violation of competition laws.
The regulator found that Google’s market dominance in automating ad space sales hurt its rivals.
The decision named multiple entities, including Google International LLC, Google LLC, Google Ireland Ltd., and Alphabet Inc.
Google has six months to comply with Turkey’s antitrust ruling by ensuring that third-party supply-side platforms receive conditions no less favorable than those provided to its own platform.
Failure to comply will lead to daily fines. Google has the option to appeal the ruling.
This decision follows a US court ruling that declared Google’s search engine an illegal monopoly, and earlier this year, European regulators requested information about Google’s advertising partnership with Meta.
In June, the Turkish antitrust board fined Google 482 million liras over its hotel search service.
