Truecaller hits 100m monthly users across Middle East, Africa

Truecaller app surpasses 450m users worldwide

Truecaller, the global app for contact verification and blocking unwanted calls, has surpassed 100 million monthly active users across the Middle East and Africa as of August 2025.

The milestone, which includes both Android and iOS users, reflects a 19% year-on-year increase.

Nigeria ranks among Truecaller’s biggest MEA markets, alongside Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Ghana, and Jordan, where the app is installed on 20% to 45% of connected smartphones.

Truecaller CEO, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, attributed the strong growth to increasing smartphone penetration and wider mobile data access across the MEA region.

“With the Middle East and Africa experiencing significant growth in smartphone adoption and mobile data adoption, we’re really happy that we’re able to solve communication problems for individuals and businesses in that region. MEA, like India and many other markets, are mobile-first markets with your mobile number being the primary identifier and Truecaller has always grown organically in such markets,” Jhunjhunwala said.

He added that the company is expanding its operations and partnerships to strengthen its foothold in the region.

“We’re continuing to strengthen our organization and our partnerships in the region, because we believe that the MEA is poised for significant growth for many years ahead, ” he said.

Globally, Truecaller has over 450 million active users and has recorded more than a billion downloads since its launch in 2009. In 2024 alone, the platform blocked nearly 56 billion unwanted calls.
