Transcorp Hotels Plc’s board of directors has declared that Ms. Adesimbo Ukiri has been appointed as a non-executive director and Mr. Garba Abubarkar has been appointed as an independent non-executive director.
According to Nairametrics, this was stated in a notice sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public.
The notice, which is signed by Group Company Secretary Stanley Chikwendu, stated that both appointments have been made in accordance with the terms of the Companies and Allied Matters Act and the Transcorp Hotels Plc Articles of Association, which were approved by the Board of Directors on October 27, 2023, and went into effect on October 30, 2023.
Mr. Garba Abubakar was the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) immediate past Registrar-General and CEO, according to the corporation.
He has 34 years of professional experience, 19 of which were spent with the Corporate Affairs Commission, where he held various positions such as Director, Compliance, Special Adviser to the Registrar General, Principal Manager, Compliance, and Deputy Director, Compliance.
He worked as a senior manager, in the legal department, and in the secretariat at the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria before joining the CAC.
Alhaji Garba graduated with a law degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, and was admitted to the Nigerian bar in 1989.
Among other organizations, he belongs to the Nigerian Bar Association, the Institute of Directors (Chartered), and the Chartered Institute of Mediators and Conciliators.
Ms. Adesimbo Ukiri is the CEO of AVON Healthcare Limited. Her professional career spans more than 30 years, giving her a lot of knowledge.
She has a proven track record of leading leadership teams to higher performance levels and transforming organizations.
She is a Non-Executive Director on the board of Heirs Life Assurance Ltd and also belongs to the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s Technology and Data Committee.
She was Head, Government Relations at Guinness Nigeria Plc and Managing Director of HYGEIA HMO before coming to Avon.
Mrs. Ukiri graduated with a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and was admitted to the Nigerian bar in 1989.
In addition, she graduated from London Business School in 2007 with a master’s degree in strategy and leadership.
