Transcorp, DMO, MTN win at NGX ‘Made of Africa’ awards

Transnational Corporation Plc, the Debt Management Office, and MTN Nigeria Communications emerged as major winners at the 2025 Made of Africa Awards organised by the Nigerian Exchange Group.

The awards ceremony, announced on Thursday, celebrates institutions and individuals who promote excellence and strong performance in Nigeria’s capital markets.

The recognition covers brokers, issuing houses, trustees, fund managers, and listed companies for their contributions in value delivery, adherence to rules, and overall market influence.

NGX Group Chairman Umaru Kwairanga highlighted the significance of the event.

“Their achievements set a benchmark for performance, integrity and innovation across the capital market,” he stated.

Group Managing Director/CEO Temi Popoola stressed the need for teamwork in the sector.

“Operational efficiency and cooperation across the ecosystem are increasingly important as trading activity diversifies and investor expectations continue to rise.”

From the regulatory side, Executive Commissioner of Operations at the Securities and Exchange Commission Bola Ajomale underlined the role of standards.

“When operators demonstrate accountability and professionalism, it strengthens investor confidence, ensures market integrity, and supports sustainable growth,” Ajomale added.

Among the award recipients were CardinalStone Securities, which won Equity Trader of the Year and Broker of the Year.

Chapel Hill Denham secured recognition as Fund Manager with the largest listed fund size and highest value of foreign portfolio investment transactions.

Transnational Corporation Plc received the Capital Market Excellence in Equity award.

Dangote Cement was named Best Issuer in Fixed Income Listings.

BUA Cement earned the title of Most Compliant Listed Company.

The Debt Management Office got Special Recognition for Fixed Income Market Development.

MTN Nigeria Communications was also listed among the distinguished winners.

Other notable recipients included First Trustees Limited, Legend Internet Plc, Capital Express Securities, Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers, and United Capital Securities.

The awards align with NGX Group’s ongoing push to expand participation in the market and increase liquidity in both equity and fixed income segments.
