TotalEnergies L.E.A.D Career initiative and JA Nigeria have created a career advancement plan for chosen secondary school students around the country in an effort to help eradicate illiteracy and equip the youth with the necessary tools and skills.
According to a statement from the energy company, the initiative’s 10th edition, dubbed “L.E.A.D career program,” recently took place in Lagos with a focus on “Building a Sustainable Future Through Youth Leadership.”
The course, which focused on career planning, teamwork, communication, and dispute resolution, was broken into three sections: an interactive session, job shadowing, and a visit to the TotalEnergies depot.
The General Manager of TotalEnergies’ Country Services, spoke to the students about their future careers and urged them to seek and achieve personal goals.
The pupils were also given a lesson on the basics of climate change and how it impacts humanity by a climate change and sustainability expert with FABE, Mr. Israel Okeyinya after he spoke with the children about the importance of the country’s economy to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria PLC, Dr. Samba Seye, noted in his speech that the project began in 2014 as a physical event but has since evolved into a hybrid with more online participation across Nigeria.
Over 3,740 pupils directly benefited from the implementation of this campaign by TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc. in 154 schools.
“The company is dedicated to educating young people, and as a result, places a high value on educational initiatives like the L.E.A.D Career project,” Seye continued. It is impossible to overstate the importance of education to the growth of any nation.
According to the principal education officer for Education District 4, Mrs. Omolaoye Adebisi, the Lagos State Ministry of Education is concerned about the development of pupils and encourages collaborations with organizations like TotalEnergies
