Tinubu seeks stronger Türkiye partnership against terrorism, banditry

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that Nigeria continues to face various instabilities and security challenges, including terrorism and banditry, while emphasising the importance of sustained international cooperation to confront threats to national and regional stability.

The President made the remarks during a joint press conference with the President of the Republic of Türkiye, where he reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to close collaboration with partners to defeat forces of destabilisation and enhance regional security.

“We have discussed efforts at terrorism and how we can defeat elements of destabilisation and banditry. We will work together to achieve that,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for his dedication to democracy, freedom, and development, highlighting that Türkiye’s interventions have made positive impacts on vulnerable and needy populations worldwide.

He particularly praised Türkiye’s contributions in Somalia, describing them as “well noted,” and reaffirmed Nigeria’s determination to expand cooperation with Türkiye in security, development, and democratic governance.

The meeting highlights Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to build stronger diplomatic and strategic partnerships in the face of escalating regional and global security challenges.
