Tinubu hails Alake’s leadership following AMSG re-election

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, on his re-election as Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategic Group, a continental body of ministers overseeing mining and solid minerals.

The AMSG was created to help African nations fully benefit from the continent’s abundant mineral resources and to foster stronger collaboration within the global minerals value chain.

Alake was first elected chairman in 2024 during the Future Minerals Forum and secured a second term at the group’s 2026 Annual General Meeting, held alongside the conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In a statement on Monday, issued by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Alake’s re-election as a strong vote of confidence in his visionary leadership, strategic advocacy, and dedication to Africa’s minerals sector.

The President highlighted that under Alake’s guidance, the AMSG has presented a unified African voice, promoting collaboration, safeguarding the continent’s mineral resources, and positioning Africa as a key player in the global energy transition and critical minerals supply chain.

President Tinubu also praised Minister Alake for aligning the AMSG’s objectives with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in advancing initiatives to harness the country’s solid minerals potential, attract sustainable investment, generate employment, and ensure that mineral resources contribute to broad socio-economic development.

“I congratulate Dele Alake for sustaining the confidence and trust of his colleagues across Africa, who have renewed his leadership of their forum,” Tinubu said.

The President assured Alake of the Federal Government’s continued support as he leads the AMSG in deepening cooperation, strengthening institutions and promoting transparency, sustainability and inclusiveness in Africa’s minerals industry.
