Tinubu accepts minister Nnaji’s resignation amid forgery allegations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations leveled against him.

Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, announced his resignation in a letter to the President on Tuesday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.

In the letter, Nnaji noted that he had become the target of “malicious blackmail” from political opponents, prompting his decision to step aside.

Nnaji reportedly stated his reason for leaving: “It has been a great honour to serve under your administration, but recent events have made me the subject of persistent political attacks and falsehoods. In light of this, I have decided to resign to protect the integrity of your government.”

President Tinubu acknowledged the minister’s resignation, commended him for his contributions to national development, and wished him success in his future pursuits.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the acceptance in a statement issued on Tuesday: “The President thanks Mr. Geoffrey Nnaji for his service to the nation and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”
