TikTok unveils new generative AI tools for marketers

TikTok removes more Universal Music songs as conflict worsens

TikTok on Monday introduced a new lineup of generative AI tools to simplify creative production for marketers.

Available both on TikTok and through integrations with Adobe Express and WPP Open, the tools are part of the platform’s Symphony suite of AI-powered products.

Among the new features are image-to-video generation, which turns product photos, brand assets, or mood boards into five-second video clips, and text-to-video capabilities that allow marketers to create video content from simple written prompts.

TikTok says the new AI tools will enable marketers to experiment with creative variations and efficiently scale custom content. Andy Yang, the company’s global head of creative and brand products, called the tools “accessible” and “agile.”

The platform is also advancing its use of AI-generated digital avatars—lifelike virtual creators introduced earlier in 2024 to help brands promote their products and services.

Through its new Symphony Showcase Products feature, TikTok now lets marketers upload an image and short text description to generate lifelike videos. These videos can feature AI avatars holding products, modeling clothing, or demonstrating mobile apps.

However, the new image and text-to-video tools, along with the Symphony Showcase Products feature, will not be integrated into WPP Open.

“With TikTok’s Symphony Suite, we’re giving our creatives even more firepower to push boundaries and experiment for our clients,” said Rob Reilly, WPP’s chief creative officer, in a statement. “It’s about making creativity smarter, faster, and more effective, blending the magic of the human touch with the power of AI to deliver killer results for the world’s biggest brands.”

TikTok stated that all content created with Symphony will carry a label identifying it as AI-generated.

It also undergoes several layers of safety review, including scrutiny of uploaded visuals and text inputs.
