TikTok introduces new reward system for content creators

TikTok has unveiled a new reward program aimed at incentivizing users to create search-optimized, original, and high-quality content.

Under this monetization initiative, creators will be rewarded based on four primary metrics: originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement.

TikTok has also introduced a Search Insights tool to provide creators with trending search topics, aiding them in crafting content that aligns with TikTok’s search criteria.

The program, which was previously in beta testing, seeks to empower creators on their TikTok journey by offering increased earnings and unlocking additional opportunities for sharing longer-form content.

TikTok emphasized its commitment to rewarding high-quality, original content lasting over a minute, utilizing a refined rewards formula focusing on the aforementioned core metrics.

Elaborating on these metrics, TikTok explained that originality pertains to unique content showcasing the creator’s perspective or creative expression, resonating with their audience. Play duration encompasses watch time and finish rate, rewarding engaging content rather than sheer volume. Audience engagement, including likes, comments, and shares, enhances creators’ content value within the program.

Furthermore, the formula will automatically reward creators for their account’s advertising value, determined by their community’s ad watch time.

To qualify for the Creator Rewards Program, creators must meet certain criteria, including being at least 18 years old, having a minimum of 10,000 followers with at least 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and maintaining a personal account in good standing where the program is available.
