Tetracore, Huawei, Inspirive partner for $400M tier III data centre

Huawei revenue drops 6% in 2022 first half

Tetracore Energy Group has unveiled a strategic partnership with global tech leader Huawei and Inspirive Technologies to build a $400 million Tier III data centre.

Located within the Tetracore Energy Park in Ogun State, the project introduces a groundbreaking “energy-to-digital” approach aimed at addressing the persistent power instability affecting Nigeria’s technology sector.

In a statement released by Tetracore Energy Group on Wednesday, the 20MW facility is set to serve as the backbone of Nigeria’s fast-growing digital ecosystem.

Planned for completion within 10 to 12 months, the data centre will be constructed to global Tier III standards, providing the high redundancy and operational resilience demanded by leading financial institutions, government agencies, and international cloud service providers.

Highlighting the project’s strategic significance, Tetracore Energy Group President and CEO, Olakunle Williams, stressed that reliable energy is the foundation for any meaningful digital progress.

“Sustainable digital transformation is fundamentally dependent on reliable energy infrastructure.

“This project reflects our ability to integrate energy and technology at scale, creating platforms that enable long-term economic growth. The Tetracore Energy Park was deliberately designed to support projects of this magnitude, and this development reinforces our commitment to execution in complex environments,” he said.

The project leverages the unique strengths of each partner. While Tetracore provides the specialized energy foundation through its 100MW Independent Power Plant, Huawei contributes world-class technological hardware.

A representative from Huawei Nigeria emphasized the company’s commitment to efficiency.

“Huawei is proud to contribute its global expertise in data centre technologies to this project. Together, we are delivering a high-performance, energy-efficient facility aligned with international standards, supporting Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem,” the statement added.

The Chief Technology Officer of Inspirive Technologies, Williams Abiola, said, “This development marks a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s digital backbone. By combining local expertise with global technology partnerships, we are delivering a scalable, world-class data centre capable of supporting enterprise growth, cloud adoption, and long-term digital transformation.”

As artificial intelligence adoption accelerates across Africa, the demand for high-performance computing and low-latency processing has reached unprecedented levels.

This data centre is purpose-built to handle AI-driven workloads and advanced analytics, reducing Nigeria’s dependence on offshore hosting while significantly enhancing national data security.
