Tesla has initiated its second recall in the United States and this time, the recall affects 120,423 Model S and X vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023.
The reason for the recall has been attributed to a potential issue that could lead to an unlocked door unlatching and opening in the event of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has pointed out that this poses an increased risk of injury and results in non-compliance with a federal safety regulation.
To address the problem, Tesla has already released a complimentary over-the-air update, and notifications to vehicle owners are scheduled for dispatch in February.
This recall comes barely a month after Tesla recalled over 2 million electric vehicles (EVs) due to concerns related to the Autopilot system’s safety. In response, the company issued a free OTA update incorporating features designed to ensure that drivers remain attentive while utilizing the Autopilot system.
