Tesla introduced a more affordable version of its Model 3 in Europe on Friday, months after its debut in the United States, according to the company’s website.
The new Model 3 Standard is designed to boost demand, Tesla said.
This launch follows the October release of a lower-priced Model Y crossover in Europe and comes as the electric carmaker works to maintain market share amid growing competition from European and Chinese rivals offering cheaper EVs.
Tesla first launched the Model 3 Standard in the United States in October, but it has only now become available in Europe.
The Model 3 Standard currently sells for $36,990 in the United States. Using current exchange rates, this is equivalent to approximately 31,700 euros, 373,500 Norwegian kroner, or 347,900 Swedish kronor.
