Policy experts have called on the government to implement evidence-based and inclusive policies.

This was disclosed in a statement at a recent webinar hosted by the Do Right Initiative, according to The Punch.

Policy experts demand a change in Nigeria’s approach to formulating policies.

They underlined the necessity of inclusive, user-centric, evidence-based policies that consider the needs and viewpoints of all Nigerians.

A Harvard-trained policy implementation expert, Chinenye Uwanaka, highlighted “The importance of citizen participation and holding leaders accountable for policy implementation.”

She called on Nigerians to participate in politics and hold their leaders accountable to their words.

Uwanaka emphasized that “all hands must be on deck” and underlined the value of co-creation between the governmental, business, and civil society sectors.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Country Director at the Centre for International Private Enterprise, Lola Adekanye, Adekanye emphasised the need to tackle corruption and doing localised campaigning to promote positive change.

Adekanye emphasised, “The people who are the most impacted by the problems are the least vocal about how those policies should change.”

According to the statement, participants in the webinar advised policymakers to abandon copy-and-paste fixes in favor of creating policies that address the opportunities and problems faced by Nigeria’s many industries and geographical areas.
