Spotify is rolling out a new feature designed to help users stay ahead of upcoming music releases. The streaming giant announced Wednesday the launch of a dedicated hub, titled Upcoming Releases, which offers personalized recommendations for albums scheduled to debut soon.
Available in the “Browse all” section under the Search tab on the mobile app, the new hub will highlight upcoming albums tailored to individual listening habits. It also includes a global Countdowns list showcasing the top 10 most anticipated releases based on pre-save figures.
In addition to pre-saving music, users can access Countdown Pages for a closer look at track lists, already-released singles, artist merchandise, and exclusive content such as video clips. Once a user pre-saves an album, Spotify will send a notification on release day and automatically add the new music to their library.
Spotify says the hub is aimed at enhancing music discovery by surfacing future releases that align with a listener’s taste, while also giving artists a new avenue for exposure. The Countdown Pages may further increase engagement with album-related content, including merchandise and tour details.
As part of the new feature’s rollout, Spotify will also begin publishing weekly Countdown Charts on its social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter). These charts will rank the 10 most pre-saved upcoming albums globally and will be updated every Wednesday.
The announcement follows a series of recent updates to Spotify’s mobile app. Earlier this month, the platform introduced a redesigned interface offering users more control over their listening experience, including improved tools for managing queues and playlists.
