The Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, Charles Odii, stated that the agency is addressing the power challenges faced by MSMEs in Nigeria.

The Punch reported that over thirty percent of businesses in Nigeria are affected by energy costs, according to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.

The challenges faced by struggling MSMEs, who are already burdened with numerous challenges related to their operating conditions, have gotten worse due to the increase in petrol prices.

According to a statement, Odii evaluated Green Village Electricity’s renewable energy solutions on November 27, 2023, during an inspection visit to Wuse Market.

“To provide sustainable energy solutions in identified clusters and Common Facility Centres marked by SMEDAN, we are actively seeking partnerships with Green Village Electricity and other stakeholders,” Odii said.

He actively sought out the opinions of MSMEs in the market regarding the adoption of renewable energy for the purposes of business expansion and environmental preservation.

The director of the Climate Energy and Sustainable Enterprises division, Onesi-Lawani Daberuje, was given an order by the DG to create an implementation framework as soon as possible for the renewable energy project’s phased rollout.
