The billionaire, Elon Musk, stated that “Long-form movies will soon be accessible on smart TVs. This comes after Fortune magazine revealed that social network X intended to release a TV app for Samsung and Amazon customers the following week.
After Musk stated “He intended to transform the platform into a super app with features like peer-to-peer payments and messaging, the site launched an early version of audio and video chatting for a select group of users in October of last year.”
In a succinct X comment, Musk stated, “Coming soon,” to a user’s post indicating that the platform’s long-form content could be seen straight on smart TVs.
Fortune has already claimed that “The software may resemble Google’s Youtube TV app. It quoted an unnamed source as claiming that Musk was determined to take on YouTube.”
X has forged alliances with the likes of former CNN anchor Don Lemon and Fox pundit Tucker Carlson in an effort to establish itself as a “video-first platform”.
Since Musk acquired the platform in 2022, it has battled to keep advertisers on board. However, this month, the site announced that it will allow marketers to place video advertising next to specific content producers.
