Silicon Valley startup with a board of heavyweight co-founders and executives, Humane, on Thursday released a $699 device that aims to bring cutting-edge AI nearer to you.

The gadget dubbed the “Ai Pin,” is meant to be worn on clothing and may be tapped to speak with a virtual assistant that uses cloud computing capacity from Microsoft and technologies from OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT.

It projects text and monochromatic images onto the user’s hand using laser projection technology.

Humane is just one of several Silicon Valley startups hoping to discover the next big thing in consumer electronics. It was founded by former Apple employees who worked on the iPhone.

However, the company has vehemently rejected the mixed-reality headsets that are now under development in favour of concentrating on providing a product that has no conventional screen and interacts with the user almost exclusively through artificial intelligence.

The virtual assistant on the Pin attempts to outpace competitors by crafting messages in the user’s voice and providing a “Catch Me Up” function to condense an unorganised email inbox.

In addition, the Pin has a camera that may be used to capture images or to scan objects, such as food, and provide the user with an estimated nutritional value.

According to the company, the Ai Pin will go on sale in the US on November 16. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, Microsoft, and others has contributed $241 million to Humane.
