Canadian e-commerce company Shopify, announced on Wednesday that it will soon introduce an artificial intelligence assistant for merchants using its platform.

CEO Tobi Lutke explained in a video uploaded on Twitter that the “Sidekick” assistant would be integrated as a button on Shopify and respond to merchant questions, including specifics on sales trends.

Following the sharp increase in usage of OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT, businesses including Alibaba Group Holding, Zoom Video Communications, and Databricks also introduced AI assistants in the past few months.

The assistant can aid business owners who want to update their Shopify stores. For instance, if asked to, it can add discounts to every item on the website.

The video stated that the feature is “coming soon” but did not state when it would be released.
