The Shippers Association of Lagos State has promised to partner with important industry players to address the issues confronting the shipping sector.
The newly elected president of the association, Fehintola Mulikat, made this disclosure on Friday, according to The Punch.
Mulikat voiced her displeasure with the various difficulties plaguing the port and shipping industries.
“We have faced many problems, and some agencies are exploiting shippers,” Mulikat said.
She said it’s time for shippers to start working together to solve these issues.
“How do we create the employment expected in the Marine and Blue Economy in an environment that doesn’t support shipping?” Mulikat queried.
The new SALS president highlighted plans to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, terminal operators, and professional groups, like the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria.
“As a former president of CIOTA Nigeria, I have been privileged to have access to vital information about core areas of seaport and transportation,” she noted.
