Shell Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Ronald Adams as the new Managing Director of its deep-water subsidiary, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Relations Manager at Shell, Gladys Afam-Anadu on Tuesday.

Adams previously served as the Chief Executive Officer at Atlantic LNG in Trinidad and Tobago.

His extensive experience in the energy sector is expected to benefit Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited as he takes on the role of Managing Director.

Afam-Anadu noted that Adams succeeds Elohor Aiboni, who is transitioning to an international role as Asset Director at Brunei Shell Petroleum.

She added that both appointments will take effect on October 1.

The Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor congratulated Adams on his appointment and emphasized the need to consolidate and enhance SNEPCo’s performance in deep-water production, as well as its social investments across Nigeria.

He also commended Elohor Aiboni for her significant contributions since taking on the role in August 2021.

Okunbor noted that her new position in Brunei offers her another opportunity to make an impact within the Shell Group, reflecting the company’s commitment to talent development and mobility.

Speaking on her tenure, Aiboni said “It has been a great honour to work alongside my colleagues and external stakeholders to build a safe, streamlined, and cost-disciplined business that leads in deep-water operations in Nigeria.

“I am particularly grateful for the invaluable support from our concessionaire and co-venture partners, which has greatly facilitated our efforts.”

Ronald Adams brings over 32 years of experience in the energy industry, having led both Shell-operated and non-operated ventures. His career encompasses a diverse range of challenges, covering both business and technical aspects.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies, providing him with a solid foundation in the field.

Additionally, he earned an MBA in Strategic Planning from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, enhancing his project management and strategic planning skills.

Adams’ extensive experience and educational background position him as a respected leader in the energy sector.

SNEPCo pioneered Nigeria’s deep-water development in 2005 by commencing production at the Bonga field, utilizing a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading vessel with a capacity of 225,000 barrels per day.
