The managing and chief executive officer of Sanlam General Insurance Nigeria Limited, Bode Opadokun, has received the “2023 CEO Today Africa Award” in recognition of his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to his sector.
According to The Punch, “Opadokun, emerging as the winner of this esteemed accolade, solidifies his position as a prominent figure in the African business community,” the company said in a statement.
“He has a proven track record in financial services and is an accomplished business leader and insurance tycoon.”
The CEO Today Africa Awards selection process was thorough and rigorous, according to the Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at GINL, Ajibola Liyide.
“The nominees are meticulously assessed by a group of business professionals based on a variety of factors, such as leadership abilities, financial performance, inventiveness, and strategic vision, and industry impact.”
“The winners are chosen based on their exceptional achievements and their ability to inspire and lead their teams to success,” he said.
According to Liyide, Opadokun directed the Sanlam General Insurance division to become the first insurer in Nigeria to resolve a vehicle insurance claim in less than 40 minutes by using a dynamic USSD Code.

CEO of First Pension Custodian, Oloruntimilehin George, and CEO, BUA Cement, Yusuf Binju, were two more notable award recipients from Nigeria.
