Samsung Electronics has reached the final qualification phase for its HBM4 AI memory chips with Nvidia, marking a key move in its bid to compete with industry leaders SK Hynix and Micron Technology.
The company said it plans to start mass production of HBM4 chips in February, though the timing for actual shipments has not been confirmed.
This statement signals its strategic push into the AI memory market.
Samsung’s shares initially climbed 3.2 per cent on the Korean exchange but later leveled off, reflecting investor cautious optimism about the company’s potential role as a supplier for Nvidia’s next-generation processors.
AI memory chip prices are expected to rise more than 50 per year in Q4 2025 compared with the previous quarter, driven by global demand exceeding supply, further highlighting Samsung’s growing influence in this space.
