The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk announced on Friday that the cage match he had planned with rival billionaire Mark Zuckerberg will take place at an “epic location” with a Roman theme. Italy had previously declared it was willing to host the match.
Gennaro Sangiuliano, the culture minister for Italy, stated in a statement that he had discussed staging a “large charitable and historically evocative event”. with Elon Musk.
He just stated that the event will not take place in Rome without providing any further details regarding the event’s nature or potential timing.
His desire to let the social media and internet titans duke it out in Italy was criticised by opposition parties.
Since June, Musk and Zuckerberg have been encouraging one another to engage in a mixed martial arts fight.
Musk once claimed that the fight would take place in Rome’s historic Colosseum, but Italy rejected that claim.
The CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, declared on Friday that despite this, the conflict would have a Roman theme.
“Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location,” Elon Musk said in response in a post on X.
In a post on June 20, Musk issued a challenge to Zuckerberg, declaring that he was “up for a cage match” with his business opponent, who is skilled in jiujitsu.
