The business delegation from the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce was given assurances by Rivers State Governor Mr. Siminalayi Fubara regarding the safety of doing business in the state.
Arise News stated that, this is in light of the fact that Governor Fubara has declared that his administration is creating robust investment-driven ties with the German government and has also made sure that the State maintains a secure business environment.
At a private meeting with the German Vice Consul-General to Nigeria, Mr. Jochen Schindelarz, and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce business delegation on Friday at Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara provided the assurance.
After the meeting, Mr. Schindelarz spoke with reporters and expressed his excitement over the governor’s promise to preserve and maintain a safe environment for their numerous investments in the State.
“This was the primary point and, in my opinion, the most essential thing the governor can do for us,” Schindelarz stated. “Investments won’t be made if they are not safe and safeguarded.
This is what I learned at the meeting, and it all forms the cornerstone of wise investment. I believe that we will forge strong ties, which will encourage our businesses to make investments here.
More business representatives from Rivers State will now be sponsored to Europe to demonstrate investment potential, according to a mutual agreement as stated by the team head of the German Industry and Commerce mission in Nigeria, Mr. Sebastian Glaeser,
According to Glaeser, the German chamber and the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture have been assigned the responsibility of organising business visits that would lead to a rise in direct foreign investments in the state.
“A significant deal for energy supply was inked last year, so our investment in oil and gas is already paying off. We are eager for the next phase, which is to move beyond oil and into hydrogen, agricultural, and industrial goods.
Presenting the potential here in Europe through trade fairs, road shows, conferences, and business forums is crucial.
“It’s good to have industry leaders come here and see what’s there, and then figure out how to combine that with Rivers State’s richness,” Glaeser stated.
