The Rivers State Executive Council has approved a budget proposal of N1.8tn for the 2026 fiscal year.

The approval was granted during a meeting of the State Executive Council held on Friday evening.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the newly sworn-in Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Matters and Social Development, Professor Peter Medee, explained that the budget was structured to allow the state to complete ongoing projects and advance new initiatives across key sectors.

Medee disclosed that the total size of the proposed budget stands at N1,854,248,734,475.76.

He said the financial proposal has been christened the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.”

According to him, the Rivers State Government remains committed to achieving its development objectives for the people of the state despite the economic and administrative challenges currently confronting the administration.

Meanwhile, Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday also swore in five new Special Advisers to strengthen governance and service delivery in the state.
