The Risk Management Association of Nigeria has expressed its commitment to sustainability and enterprise risk management in organisations.

It said this in a statement on its upcoming annual general meeting and conference with the theme, ‘Sustainability and Enterprise Risk Management: 2022 and beyond’ which would hold in Lagos.

RIMAN, a professional body for risk management practitioners in Nigeria, noted that it had remained consistent in promoting best practices for risk management in Nigeria and often held an annual international conference for both its members and prospective members.

According to the statement, the conference had a large gathering of risk practitioners and stakeholders in the country and had been considered invaluable for enlightening and upskilling risk practitioners over the years, offering a unique opportunity for capacity-building, knowledge sharing, and networking.

It stated that, “Executives have realised that more robust enterprise risk management frameworks are required to remain competitive in this new era. Risk leaders, in turn, are looking beyond the reactive measures organisations usually deploy in handling unexpected incidents such as the pandemic, to having more proactive and effective risk mitigation strategies, which can be a competitive differentiator for their companies.

“As the scourge of COVID-19 abates globally, more businesses are returning to near-normal business operations, and looking to more sustainable ways of doing business. This has resulted in a keen focus on sustainability, making it a key business driver and competitive differentiator for 2022 and beyond.”

According to the President, RIMAN, Dr Ezekiel Oseni, registration had since commenced for the event through RIMAN’S website.

The statement said the special guest of honour would be the Chairman of Access Bank Plc, Dr Ajoritsedere Awosika; and the keynote speakers would be the Managing Director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Mr Bello Hassan; and the Chief Executive Officer, European Organization for Sustainable Development, Mr Arshad Rab.
