Reddit unveils new tools to enhance user engagement, compliance

Reddit introduced a suite of new features on Thursday aimed at helping users adhere to community guidelines and gain better insights into content performance.

The move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to boost engagement on the platform.

The announcement comes after a slowdown in Reddit’s quarterly user growth, which was impacted by a change in Google’s algorithm that affected search-driven traffic. However, CEO Steve Huffman stated last month that traffic from Google has since rebounded.

Like its competitors, including Meta, Reddit has been investing in new tools to attract users and remain competitive in the crowded social media landscape. Among the latest updates is a “rules check” feature, currently being tested on mobile devices, designed to assist users in complying with specific subreddit regulations.

Additionally, the platform has introduced a post recovery tool, allowing users to repost content in an alternative subreddit if their original submission is removed for violating rules. Users will also receive subreddit recommendations based on their post content and information on specific posting requirements within different communities.

Reddit is also enhancing its post insights feature, providing users with detailed metrics on engagement and audience interaction to help improve future content.

In December, the company launched Reddit Answers, an AI-powered search tool that generates curated summaries of community discussions. Currently in beta, the feature is available to a limited number of users in the U.S.
