Qatar Airways launches limited flights for passengers amid Middle-East tensions

Qatar Airways announced Thursday it will launch a limited series of relief flights from neighbouring countries to assist stranded passengers.

However, Qatar Airways confirmed that flights to and from Doha’s Hamad International Airport remain suspended due to ongoing tensions in the Gulf

In a statement on X, the airline said that it has started to operate a limited and relief flights for some affected passengers.

“On 5 March 2026, due to the current situation and temporary airspace closures by the relevant authorities affecting parts of the region, Qatar Airways has started to organise and operate a limited number of relief flights to assist passengers affected by the current situation and temporary airspace closures across the region.

“We are working around the clock to organise additional relief flights where operationally possible and will share further updates as soon as they are confirmed.

“Affected passengers will be contacted directly by Qatar Airways with their flight details, arrangements and next steps,’ the statement partly reads.

Meanwhile, all of Etihad’s scheduled flights to and from Abu Dhabi are suspended until 6 a.m. UAE time on March 6.

Airlines outside the region are also rerouting or canceling flights near the conflict zone.

German carrier Lufthansa, for example, has suspended regular services to several destinations in the area.

Flights to and from Larnaca, Cyprus, will resume on March 7, while services to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi remain suspended through March 10. Lufthansa’s flights to and from Tehran are suspended until March 30.

Travelers affected by the disruptions are urged to contact their airline or travel agent promptly for rebooking or refund options, though many are reporting delays in getting assistance due to high call volumes.
