The Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria has emphasized that workplace mental health programs must be given top priority by corporate firms.
In order to inform professionals in the pension business about leveraging mental health for long-lasting change, PenoP made the call during a webinar it organized on “Mental health, managing stress and depression.”
The association emphasized the critical part that mental health plays in total welfare, emphasizing that being in good health went beyond simply being free of illnesses or infirmities and included aspects of one’s physical, mental, social, spiritual, and economic well-being.
The chief executive officer of PenOp, Oguche Agudah, stated that managers and corporate executives must constantly consider the overall welfare of their staff members.
The webinar, according to Agudah, marked the beginning of its quarterly wellness workshops, which will focus on giving employees in the pension business the skills and information they need to lead healthy lives.
Speaking at the same event, the chief executive officer of Living Health International, Dr. Gbenga Adebayo, advised companies and individuals to start creating wellness and resilience strategies to protect mental health.
As “social support, prevention strategies, and effective coping skills were essential tools for building strength, managing time, and living a stress-free life,” he stated there was a need to eradicate the stigma around mental health.
In order to help their employees’ mental health, Adebayo recommended businesses to “create a safe space within their organizations for people to openly discuss their mental state and stress.”
