The African Continental Free Trade Area has endorsed the Customs-Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade, an initiative spearheaded by the Nigeria Customs Service and Afreximbank to boost intra-African trade.
The conference announcing the initiative will hold in Abuja from November 17 to 19.
AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene announced the official endorsement in Accra during a visit by NCS Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi, stating that C-PACT aligns with AfCFTA’s goal of unified customs and smoother cross-border trade across Africa.
Adeniyi, who also chairs the World Customs Organisation, affirmed that C-PACT will drive transparency, lawful trade, and sustainable growth. He confirmed that the initiative is supported by the WCO and aims to strengthen Africa’s economic integration and shared prosperity.
