Paystack co-founder under fire as past tweets spark uproar

There has been widespread uproar on X (formerly Twitter) after Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi was called out over a series of troubling old tweets that recently resurfaced.

The controversy began when financial professional Max Obae (@makispoke) made indirect allegations on X that many users linked to Ezra.

Though she did not name him, she claimed the individual mistreated domestic staff and had an unhealthy dynamic with a subordinate.

In a subsequent X Space, she referred to the accused as “John Doe,” alleging manipulation and other red flags during a polycule relationship involving herself and the wife.

She further claimed he attempted to have her arrested, and that their romantic and then platonic relationship ended after her earlier dispute with feminist writer Ozzy Etomi on X.

As debate grew over her claims, several disturbing historic tweets attributed to Ezra resurfaced online — some alluding to pedophilia, bestiality, and other inappropriate behaviour, including remarks encouraging misconduct toward female colleagues.

Max later returned to an X Space to confirm she had indeed been referring to Ezra and said she was prepared to face him in court if challenged. She also reiterated that she still owes him $55,000 but would not be silenced.

Amid the backlash, Ezra deactivated his account and has not issued any public response.

The incident has reignited broader conversations about believing women who speak out about alleged abuse, with many feminists rallying behind Max as the controversy continues to unfold.
