Paramount has agreed to a $16 million settlement in a lawsuit brought by United States President, Donald Trump, over the editing of a CBS “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris in October.

According to the company, the funds will be directed to Trump’s future presidential library, not to him personally.

Paramount also stated that the agreement does not include an apology.

Trump’s lawyer said the president experienced “mental anguish” due to CBS News’ editing of the interview, which he claimed was altered to make then-Vice President Kamala Harris appear more articulate.

Paramount and CBS denied the accusation and had moved to dismiss the lawsuit.

The case was filed the case in Amarillo, Texas.

The White House has not yet commented on the settlement.

The case drew significant attention from press freedom advocates and journalists within CBS. CBS lawyers had described Trump’s lawsuit as “completely without merit” and initially vowed to fight it vigorously.

As part of the mediated settlement, Paramount agreed that “60 Minutes” will release transcripts of future interviews with presidential candidates, “subject to redactions as required for legal and national security concerns,” according to a statement cited by CBS News.
