A fully authorized national commercial bank, Optimus Bank Limited, has started conducting business across the country.
The bank’s chairman, Mr. Oghogho Akpata, stated at the bank’s ceremonial introduction and grand opening on Wednesday in Lagos that Optimus would use technology to advance financial inclusion and improve its services.
“We pledge to lead in the digital era by promoting financial inclusion, supporting sustainable initiatives, and bringing about positive change in the communities we serve,” he said.
“Together, we will create a strong future for Optimus Bank, anchored by steadfast ethics and a timeless vision of success.”
According to the chairman, it started operating on January 16, 2023, not long after securing a national commercial banking license from the Central Bank of Nigeria on October 21, 2022.
Speaking at the bank’s grand launch, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stressed the bank’s potential to further promote economic growth and stability in Lagos State.
He declared, “Optimus Bank will play a significant role in start-ups and SMEs in addition to the banking industry and well-established enterprises. It is intended to help people escape poverty.”
The governor applauded Optimus Bank for using cutting-edge technology and creative business methods that complemented the state’s goal for financial modernization and technological advancement.
According to the managing director of Optimus Bank, Dr. Ademola Odeyemi, the launch opened a new chapter in the financial industry that broke down boundaries and opened doors for everyone.
