OpenAI has unveiled GPT-5.2 model, its accelerated response to Google’s powerful new Gemini 3 model.
The company says the flagship release is “the most capable model series yet for professional knowledge work.”
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described it as “the smartest generally available model in the world,” pointing to benchmarks showing it outperforming Gemini 3 Pro and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.5 in several areas, including software engineering tests, abstract reasoning, math, and science.
This was disclosed by the company in a Press release on Thursday.
“Overall, GPT‑5.2 brings significant improvements in general intelligence, long-context understanding, agentic tool-calling, and vision, making it better at executing complex, real-world tasks end-to-end than any previous model,” OpenAI stated.
Last month, Google launched Gemini 3, its most advanced artificial intelligence model to date.
Announcing the launch, the company said the model marks a major stride in intelligence and reasoning, ushering in a new generation of agentic AI across its products.
