OpenAI announced on Wednesday that it is bringing voice-enabled agentic features to its mobile app, allowing users to initiate tasks such as drafting documents and summarising emails.

Plus and Pro subscribers will be able to use the Work tab on their smartphones to create documents, draft emails and summarise Slack messages, among other tasks.

The subscribers will also be able to build websites, create presentations, use the cloud browser and access other ChatGPT features, including financial tools.

Meanwhile, Free and Go users will have access to plugins and connected apps.

OpenAI said ChatGPT’s voice conversations will now feature richer text output, while Plus users will be able to switch seamlessly between text and voice modes.

Users will also be able to start a conversation while on the move and continue it on a desktop device.

The rollout comes as more users turn to voice commands to instruct AI assistants to perform complex tasks.

In July, OpenAI launched its new conversational model, GPT-Live, before integrating it into its desktop app. The integration allowed users to use voice commands to complete tasks in the Work tab or build applications in the Codex tab.

The latest rollout extends similar capabilities to ChatGPT’s mobile app.
