Mobile money platform, OPay, has described the video making the rounds on social media regarding alleged fradulent activities on some OPay agent accounts as fake.
According to the statement released by the company, relevant actions were taken along with the stakeholders when the incident occured two years ago, precisely on the 23rd of August, 2021.
OPay described the news as fake stating that they have taken significant measures to protect customer data and accounts by the continious upgrade of the security system.
The statement added, ” We also provided 24-hour customer service to help customers easily resolve their issues. We therefore implore our customers and the general public to disregard the video and its content and beware of individuals and groups of people who spread false information.”
The old video was reported to have resurfaced on social media and has since been going viral.
Opay is a leading digital payment platform licensed by the CBN. It has over 40 million users as well as up to 500,000 agents and 150,000 merchants in Nigeria.
