The West Africa Container Terminal in Onne, Rivers State, has announced plans to adjust its terminal handling charges and storage fees, effective April 1, 2025.
In a notice in Sunday, the terminal stated it has obtained the necessary approvals from relevant agencies for these adjustments.
While the specific details of the tariff changes have not been disclosed, WACT has cited economic and operational factors as reasons for the increase.
The statement noted that the Terminal Handling Charge will increase by 8%, while the storage charge will rise by 100%.
“We wish to inform you that WACT has reviewed its tariff in line with the relevant regulatory approval to adjust both Terminal Handling Charges and Storage chargeable at the terminal.
“To this end, effective on April 1, 2025, applicable THCs shall be duly adjusted by eight per cent and Storage by 100 per cent, and the new rates shall be made available on our website on the said effective date,” the notice read in part.
The terminal stated that the storage-free period has been extended from three to five days.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause you; hence, the storage-free days have been adjusted from three free days to five free days,” it added.
WACT stated that, as a customer-centric business, it remains committed to delivering an excellent customer experience through investments in equipment, infrastructure upgrades, and process optimization.
